Two Paintings in Grand Prairie Arts Council 2010 Juried Show

I’m delighted to announce that “Misty Meadow” and “Cottonwood Valley” have been accepted into the 2010 Grand Prairie Arts Council Juried Art Exhibition and Sale - September 12th through September 25th. This will be the 2nd consecutive year my work will be included in the annual event.

The show opens with a Reception and Awards Presentation Sunday, September 12th at Grand Prairie Memorial Library, 901 Conover Drive, Grand Prairie, Texas. The Juror is James Behan, Professor of Art at Mountain View College, Dallas, Texas.

Whew! 2 long days in the studio, but it was time well spent, I think. This painting is one I've had "in my head" for about 10 years. The waterfall is well hidden in the back country of the San Juan mountain range in southwestern Colorado.  I love that part of Colorado; it's the least traveled and affected by tourism. 

While I'm "on a roll", I think I'll get back to the easel.....in my mind's eye, there's another painting that's been waiting for me; it's time to begin the journey.  I need to get all the studio time I can right now....next week I'll be 4 days in the Georgetown, Texas area with family.  I'm taking my painting gear, hoping to get in a little plein air time.

Today I spent about 3 hours cleaning up my work area; emptying the trash and sweeping up little bits of debris that is always under my drawing board. I only had a couple of hours before dinner so I decided to do a small landscape. This is the 3rd in a series of "River Bend" paintings.
